- Head of the Lakes Youth for Christ is a Non Profit 501(c)(3) chapter of Youth for Christ USA. HOL-YFC was established in Duluth in 1960 and currently serves the Duluth, Superior, Bayfield, Drummond, Two Harbors and surrounding areas. Our largest program in the Twin Ports is the Encounter. The Encounter is a unique youth center. In fact, it is unlike anything across the United States. We combine a Skateboarding Park, Gymnasium, Auditorium and two Music Venues into one amazing space. The Encounter is located in downtown Duluth. Reaching over 25,000 youth a year, The Encounter brings together youth from every possible background. We seek to build relationships with young people - especially those in this urban setting. These youth are “at-risk” in every way imaginable. One of our goals is to encourage these youth to make good choices and establish a solid foundation for life. The Encounter seeks to help these youth become healthy physically, mentally, spiritually and emotionally.
